Privacy policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Perets Design ("Perets Design", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It applies to peretsdesign.com, our showroom, our emails, our live chat and our social media accounts.

"Personal information" means any information about you that can identify you, directly or indirectly, such as your name, email address, phone number or order history.

Our Privacy Officer

Questions, requests or complaints about your personal information go to our Privacy Officer:
Email: privacy@peretsdesign.com
Mail: Perets Design, Attn: Privacy Officer, 1881, boulevard Saint-Régis, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 2M9

What we collect and where it comes from

Most of what we collect, you give us directly: when you order, create an account, subscribe, contact us, ask to plan a visit or return an item, online or in our showroom.

  • Contact details, such as your name, email, phone number and billing address.
  • Account information, if you create an account.
  • Purchases, returns and pickups, online and in the showroom. Payments are handled by our payment providers; we don't store full card numbers.
  • Your messages to us, including contact forms, emails, calls and live chat (your chat messages and the name or email you give), and your marketing preferences.
  • How you use our site and emails: pages and products viewed, cart activity, device and browser information, IP address and approximate location. This is collected with cookies, pixels and similar tools, including tools that record how visitors move through our site (see "Cookies and tracking technologies").
  • Information from our partners: our online store and checkout platform (Shopify), payment providers, advertising platforms and social media, for example a payment confirmation or a report on how our ads perform.

In our showroom, we ask for your contact details to process your purchase and prepare your order for pickup. If you share your phone number or email, we may contact you about your order, and about offers if you agreed to receive them. Our showroom uses security cameras for safety and loss prevention.

How we use it

  • To process your orders, prepare them for pickup, and handle returns.
  • To manage your account.
  • To answer your questions, including by chat, and provide customer service.
  • To send you order and pickup emails, and marketing emails you subscribed to.
  • To measure how well our ads work and show you more relevant ads (see "Advertising and measurement").
  • To understand how our site and showroom are used, and to improve them.
  • To prevent fraud, protect our customers, staff and showroom, and meet our legal obligations.

Your consent

We collect and use your personal information with your consent, or as the law allows. You may give your consent in different ways, for example by creating an account, subscribing, completing a form or sharing your information with us online or in the showroom. Some uses come with the service you ask for: for example, we need your name and contact details to prepare your order for pickup.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing privacy@peretsdesign.com or by unsubscribing. If you withdraw consent we need to complete an order, we may not be able to complete it.

Advertising and measurement

We work with advertising platforms, including Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and Google. Their pixels and cookies on our site, and connections set up through our online store platform, tell us when someone who saw or clicked one of our ads visits our site or buys something.

To measure our ads, we may also share information about purchases made online and in our showroom with these platforms, such as the date and amount, along with your email address or phone number. Your email and phone number are converted into coded identifiers (hashed) before they are sent. The platforms use them to match the purchase to their own users and report back to us in aggregate. We don't sell your personal information.

To ask us not to share your showroom purchases for advertising, email privacy@peretsdesign.com. You can also manage the ads you see in your settings on each platform.

Cookies and tracking technologies

We use three kinds of cookies and similar tools:

  • Essential: make the site work, such as your cart, checkout, login and language. Our live chat widget (Tawk.to) also sets cookies to keep your chat going as you move between pages.
  • Analytics: show us how the site is used, so we can improve it (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity).
  • Advertising: measure our ads and show you relevant ads on other sites and apps (Meta, Google).

Analytics and advertising tools can be used to recognize your device, estimate your general location and build a profile of your interests. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and turn off ad personalization in your settings on each platform. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.

Emails

We send marketing emails only to people who subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email. We will still send messages about your orders, pickups, returns and account.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers who run parts of our business for us, such as our online store and checkout (Shopify), payment processing, email, our live chat (Tawk.to), customer service tools, and site analytics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity). They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
  • Advertising platforms, as described in "Advertising and measurement".
  • Our affiliates, the companies that operate our showroom and online business, which must respect this policy.
  • A buyer or successor, if our business or part of it is sold, merged or reorganized. We will let you know before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
  • Authorities and others, when required: to comply with the law or a court order, to protect our rights or property, to prevent or investigate fraud or wrongdoing, or to protect the safety of our customers, staff or the public.
  • Anyone else, with your consent.

When you pay with Shop Pay, PayPal or another payment option, that provider also handles your information under its own privacy policy.

Information stored outside Quebec

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Quebec, including in other provinces, the United States and other countries. Before we share information outside Quebec, we assess whether it will be properly protected, and we use agreements that require our providers to protect it. Information held in another country may be accessible to that country's courts and authorities.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. For example, order and payment records are kept for at least six years for tax purposes, and marketing preferences until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Security camera footage is kept for a limited time and then recorded over, unless it's needed for an incident. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

We may use anonymous or aggregated information, such as sales totals, that can no longer identify you.

How we protect it

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, and we limit access to the people who need it. No system is completely secure. If an incident involving your personal information presents a risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, as the law requires.

Keeping your information accurate

Please keep your account details up to date. You can update most of them in your account, or ask us to correct them.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct information that's wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your information, or stop using it for a purpose such as marketing or advertising;
  • give you the information you provided to us in a commonly used format, or send it to someone you choose.

Email privacy@peretsdesign.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We reply within 30 days. Requests are free, unless a copy requires reasonable transcription or delivery costs, which we would tell you about first. If we can't fulfil a request, for example because the law requires us to keep certain records, we will tell you why. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

How to ask us to delete your information

  1. Email privacy@peretsdesign.com with the subject "Delete my data" (or "Supprimer mes données").
  2. Tell us the name and the email address or phone number you used with us, so we can find your information. We may ask you to confirm your identity.
  3. We reply within 30 days and confirm once it's done.

What we delete: your account, contact details, marketing subscription, and the messages and chat history linked to you. We also stop sharing your information with advertising platforms, and ask our service providers to delete what they hold for us.

What the law makes us keep: order and payment records, which we keep for at least six years for tax purposes (we limit how they're used), and anything we must keep to meet a legal obligation, handle a dispute or prevent fraud. We will tell you what we kept and why.

Information that Meta or Google hold about you on their own platforms is deleted through your settings with them; we can't delete it for you.

Children

We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 without the consent of their parent or guardian. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 14 without consent, we delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it. Parents or guardians can contact our Privacy Officer.

Links to other sites

Our site links to other sites, apps and social networks. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them, and we're not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will let you know on our site or by email before they take effect.
